"Leisure, not labour, is the aim of man", this Oscar Wilde quotation might have been directly about the Lake Chiemsee region. Take a boat to Herreninsel or Fraueninsel (Men’s / Ladies’ Islands) in what is often called the Bavarian Sea, go by cable car to the top of Kampenwand mountain and enjoy the fantastic view of the central Alps including the Grossglockner, visit the former Benedictine monastery of Seeon and the nearby St. Lambert parish church or stroll with us through the picturesque village of Wasserburg which makes you feel as if you were in Italy: we take you to the most beautiful places in the Chiemsee region.
Surrounded by enormous mountains, the emerald-green Lake Königssee is the main attraction of the Berchtesgaden region. Soundless electric boats take you to St. Bartholomew, an idyllic peninsula with world-famous chapel which dates back to the 12th century. Did you know that St. Bartholomew was one of the favorite places of the Bavarian Kings in the 19th century? A traditional Bavarian Inn and a fisherman’s hut with smokehouse entice you into tasting the local fish and many other delicacies.
